This was our March

Updated: Apr 19

Reflecting on our remarkable March, we invite you to take a closer look at our latest news!

We're overjoyed to announce that Aya Contigo has won the Community Empowerment category at SXSW’s Innovation Awards! 🎉 This recognition fuels our mission to continue empowering communities affected by abortion bans with Aya Contigo’s holistic digital companion care model.

But that's not all - SXSW was an incredible experience of innovation, connection, and empowerment! We were invited as speakers on thought-provoking panels discussing "Why You Are an Abortion Beneficiary" and "Global Impact of Big Tech Abortion Information Suppression". These discussions delved into crucial topics surrounding reproductive rights and the impact of technology on access to information.

We hosted a CSW68 Parallel Event in collaboration with Fòs Feminista and the International Rescue Committee (IRC), bringing together global leaders to discuss the vital connection between abortion access, reproductive autonomy, and economic empowerment. The panel shared invaluable insights, highlighting the importance of learning from the Global South's experiences and understanding the impact of US political landscapes like Dobbs on abortion access globally. Thank you to our speakers and moderator: Dr. Antonia Biggs, UCSF; Erin Grant, Abortion Care Network;  Erin Wheeler, IRC; Dr. Jess Rucell, Sexual and Reproductive Justice Coalition in South Africa; who shared the Panel with Dr. Roopan Gill, our Co-founder & CEO.

As our digital solution, Aya Contigo, celebrates its second anniversary this March, we reflect on the journey we've embarked on to provide supportive self-managed abortion and contraception care, within challenging humanitarian and legally restrictive environments. From its inception, Aya Contigo has been driven by a vision to provide a safe space for individuals facing obstacles in exercising their bodily autonomy. Whether virtually or in person in Venezuela and the US, connecting with our community has been heartening. Thank you for your support and here’s to many more years!

But that’s not all for Aya Contigo: we won two more awards! HLTH Foundation Techquity for Health Coalition Case Study Competition: Aya Contigo won in the category of Digital Health Innovation for its partnership with Planned Parenthood to serve the Latinx community by providing culturally relevant digital tools for abortion care and information. Read more here. Our COO Dr. Genevieve Tam pitched Aya Contigo at the Reproductive Health Innovation Summit’s Innovation Showcase in Boston and won in the digital health category! This annual event serves as a platform for connecting industry C-suite leaders, aiming to spotlight disruptive innovations and catalyze growth within the realm of reproductive health.

Our impact depends on supporters like you. We are committed to offering Aya Contigo to many more people in restrictive settings, and to be able to do this, your donations are critical. Your generosity can make an immediate difference in sustaining our team and our vital programs, reaching those most in need, and driving forward our mission of community empowerment and revolutionizing sexual and reproductive self-care.
