Our story
Vitala Global Foundation is a Canadian non-profit. It was started by two Canadian Obstetrician Gynecologists, Roopan and Genevieve, who became instant friends through their shared passion to address health inequities impacting women and adolescent girls. Their desire is to focus their careers in tackling these injustices.
Our method
We seek to understand the challenges women and adolescent girls identify when accessing SRH tools and services through user-centered and in-depth contextual and cultural research. In this way, together, we can co-create and implement digital solutions that allow women and girls to make healthy, informed choices and to engage in appropriate self-care.
Our projects
25 million unsafe abortions occur every year worldwide, leading to over 22,000 avoidable maternal deaths and millions of serious complications. Accessible and reliable safe comprehensive abortion care and family planning reduces maternal mortality and morbidity from unsafe abortions.

We're proud to announce that our very own Dr. Roopan Gill has been named one of Canada's Most Powerful Women! Dr. Gill was recognized under the Women of Courage award for her work as an OBGYN with the University of Toronto, co-founder of Vitala Global Foundation and for her humanitarian efforts with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) dedicated to improving abortion access and sexual reproductive health in challenging contexts.
